The Family Practice residency at Heart of Lancaster has the strongest history of all our teaching programs. During our seven decades as a teaching hospital, the family practice residency has graduated the most residents. The field of medicine is changing at an incredibly fast pace. What remains consistent is the ever present need for primary care physicians. Family practice physicians are known to provide the best clinical and compassionate care. No matter how clinically and technologically advanced medicine becomes, every patient needs a knowledgeable and competent family practice physician in their corner.
Residency training at Heart of Lancaster is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association. The residency provides the opportunity to learn family-centered care. Our residents learn how to recognize, evaluate and manage common and uncommon health care problems encountered in practice. A large portion of your training will transpire at our family practice clinic. Here you will encounter a patient panel presenting a wide variety of medical conditions. It will be your responsibility to provide quality care to your patients. You will find a supportive learning atmosphere that strives for excellence in patient care. Our curriculum will serve as the foundation for developing the ambulatory skills necessary to be a competent board certified physician.
At Heart, we are committed to the continued development of the county’s medical professional population. Numerous family practice physicians in the area are graduates of our program.
