RESIDENCY

Each resident’s curriculum is designed to develop your strengths and correct any weaknesses. Residents have access to the most modern diagnostic and treatment options.

Our curriculum combines block rotations, conferences and longitudinal experiences to provide a well rounded education. Elective time is also available to gain additional experience in areas of special interest to you and relevant to your medical training. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that graduates of the program are board certified, and able to provide quality care in any practice setting. As a resident, leadership opportunities also exist.

FAMILY PRACTICE RESIDENCY

Family Practice is our dominant residency program. Your primary focus is ambulatory patients with hospital and private practice rotations. At the outpatient clinic you will have your own patients. You can expect to work with patients presenting a wide spectrum of health problems.

Your first year will be split between the hospital with inpatient management and clinic time. The second year is more dedicated to ambulatory medicine with opportunities to supervise interns and residents. During your third year efforts will be concentrated on a stronger pursuit of managing patient care issues and refining medical techniques. The program will create an opportunity to build a patient base for future practice in the area.

We strive to retain residents to remain in the area upon graduation. We offer administrative assistance in seeking placement in established medical practices.

ANESTHESIA

Members of our Anesthesia team provide comprehensive 24 hour in house coverage for both surgery and obstetrics. During the first year you will spend 90% of your time in the O.R. Under the supervision of the Attending and program director you will have direct patient responsibilities. Required reading assignments and lecture attendance will be a part of this initial year.

As you progress to your second year out rotations in neo-natal, cardiac anesthesia, among others, will be introduced. You will be assigned more cases and responsibilities in-house. The final year of training will allow more elective time with an emphasis on specialty training.

INTERNAL MEDICINE

This is a traditional residency. You will be trained as a Hospitalist. Throughout your training you will accompany Attendings to local hospitals as well as spend time in their office. Most of your rotations will be in Lancaster County. All sub-specialties are available at our affiliate sites.

The third year of training will allow more time for electives, concentrating on a specialty. During the three year program, continuity of care clinic time will be required.
