Pulmonary Function Test (PFT)
A broad range of tests that measure how well the lungs take in and exhale air, and how efficiently they transfer oxygen into the blood.
PFT Complete – Includes the following:
- Spirometry measures how well the lungs exhale. The information gathered during this test is useful in diagnosing certain types of lung disorders such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- MVV -Maximum Voluntary Ventilation is how much volume you can move in one minute going at top speed and with big, deep breaths
- FRC - Functional residual capacity is a measure only taken from the end of a regular breath out.
- DLCO – Diffusion Capacity is an estimate of how efficiently the lungs transfer oxygen from the air into the bloodstream.
Methacholine Challenge
Therapists work with physicians to diagnose asthma.
Arterial Blood Gas
A blood sample is taken to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide and how the lungs are exchanging gases.
Walk Studies
Physician ordered test to determine level of oxygen needed to order.
Pulse Oximetry
Non-invasive finger probe test to test oxygen levels.
